Starfish is excited to announce the upcoming arrival of the jewelry collection Alex and Ani, designed by Carolyn Rafaelian. Eco-friendly and charged with powerful and spiritual meanings, Alex and Ani’s most popular line of charm bangle bracelets are collectable and stackable pieces.
Pictured above — and just in time for St. Patrick’s Day — is the new Claddagh charm. Representing love (the heart), friendship (the hands) and loyalty (the crown), this symbol originated in the village of Claddagh in Ireland. Alex and Ani explains:
The Claddagh is traditionally worn on the right hand with the heart facing out as a sign that one is unattached and with the heart facing in to signify that the wearer is under love’s spell. This symbol is only worn on the left hand if one is engaged or married. Wear the Claddagh Charm to draw in your heart’s desires.
Each bangle, and also some of the line’s earrings, necklaces and rings, trade traditional clasps for a signature sliding mechanism that makes the bangles expandable and custom-sizable. Most of the pieces are made of Russian gold or Russian silver (an eco-friendly matte gold or silver finish plated on a brass base) and given an antique look through the oxidation process.
Alex and Ani also has a philanthropic arm, Charity by Design, with uniquely designed charms that represent a charity’s mission. Twenty percent of sale proceeds from these items are donated to the charm’s charity. You can find a cause you care for here.
With hundreds of options and combinations to choose from, we can’t wait to see which charms mean the most to you. We’ll keep you posted with more Alex and Ani updates news of an Alex and Ani premiere event.
